Matthew 5:38-48

We have all heard the saying “Go the extra mile.” Did you know it was biblical? Jesus says in Matthew 5:41 “And whosever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.” Verse 40 says something very similar as well.

Now the most significant part of this passage is that this is not referring to our brethren or those close to us. It refers to our enemies! What?! Yes, God tells us to love our enemies and bless them. Proverbs 25:21-22 says to feed them and do good. Doing this will “heap coals of fire upon his head”.

Imagine the difference we can make if we act this way. Doing this can convert souls and bring others to God. We need to “Go the extra mile” for everyone, enemies included.
